Weeknote #65 (20251214-20251220)
meta
This was my last working week of the year, which is always a nice feeling. Mx18 returned home about half-way through the week, and promptly morphed into Mx19 …which means this is my last year being a parent to a teenager.
did
- Work continues to be all consuming, and I think I am probably going to need to lean into that a bit to get on top of it
- I hosted the December Hack Salem on Wednesday; we had a very interesting talk about kombucha from a local former-tech-guy-turned-entrepreneur
- We had a couple of extremely windy and rainy days in the middle of the week, thanks to an atmospheric river passing through. We lost several etremely large limbs off both our Doug firs, which meant I spent a good chunk of Wednesday and Saturday outside with a bow saw, turning big limbs into future firewood. Our only real damage was to a section of fence, and even that was pretty limited, just some busted cross pieces and a few pickets knocked off
- I tried to pick Advent of Code back up, and promptly got stuck muddling through Day 9 Part 2 — I think so far I’ve come up with 3 different ways that work fine for the test data and take way too long for the real data…
cooked
- Monday: chili
- Tuesday: chicken enchiladas
- Saturday: pizza (actually made by TheWife and Mx19, not me)
looking forward to
The next two weeks I’m off work, and TheWife is mostly off work. Looking forward to some down time, some fancy cooking, and generally relaxing — there’s a pretty good chance the next weeknote won’t actually show up until next year, FYI
