Not sure if was the return from the long weekend, or something else, but work felt like it really ramped up in intensity this week. (Some of that was, no doubt, due to an impending role change for me, but I don’t think that was all of it, and that change isn’t even official yet…)

Honestly, aside from work and “life maintenance” stuff — gym, shopping, cooking, etc — this was not a terribly eventful week. I did start Advent of Code, and have so far mostly managed to keep up. (Day 3 part 2 is the part that’s taken me the longest so far…)

TheWife and I did make a rare trek up to Portland on Saturday afternoon, to meet up with some of my work folks who happen to live in the area — one of the mind-bending things about this new gig is there are a few dozen folks one or two towns away who also work for the same company! And we can have, like, happy hours and stuff! Wild.

On the first Friday of the month, my local pub/brewery has a special firkin of beer, that’s usually one of their typical recipes plus some addition, like orange peel or hazelnuts. They usually find a regular to handle the tapping duty, and last month it was my turn. (Picture showing up now because they take a photo at the time and then use it to promote the next Friday Firkin…)
