Weeknote #35 (20250518-20250524)
meta
In retrospect, this was a pretty busy week! Didn’t feel exceptionally so in the moment, oddly.
did
- The local university had commencement on Sunday; TheWife was quite busy with that
- I updated most of my sites to Eleventy 3.1.0, which was (naturally!) completely painless
- I set up HTTPS/SSH multiplexing on my remote server, which allows me to work better from my local (which inexplicably blocks outbound port 22)
- Installed and configured Anubis in front of git.genehack.net, because fuuuuuuuuuuck an AI scraper bot
- Hosted and presented at the May Hack Salem meeting — maybe this is gonna get back off the ground?
- I think I’ve mentioned, I’m considering a Masters of Data Science program at the local university; Thursday I attended a class as an observer. It was kinda fun?
- A whole bunch of the work week was spent dealing with trying to
update a bunch of things on my work computer from
x86_64
toaarch64
, and dealing with the breakage and fallout; luckily smarter people than I were around to openconda
PRs… - Saturday, TheWife and I met a friend at Bryn Mawr Vineyards for a wine club tasting/pickup party, and then ended up with an impromptu date night dinner out at Epilogue (which was fantastic as always)
exercise & shoulder recovery
- Sunday: morning stretches
- Monday: morning stretches, afternoon ran C25K W4D3 — did not feel great, but got it done
- Tuesday: morning stretches, afternoon gym (shoulder stuff, EZbar bicep curls)
- Wednesday: morning stretches, played hooky in the afternoon because of Hack Salem
- Thursday: morning stretches, played hooky in the afternoon because of demo class attendance
- Friday: morning stretches, afternoon ran C25K W5D1, and felt a lot better than I had on Monday
- Saturday: morning gym (should stuff, Zottman curls)
read
- The Homework is the Cheat Code (which I actually read at some point the week before this weeknote covers) really resonated as I’m pondering becoming a higher education student again; I can only hope the professors I end up working with are this thoughtful
listened
- Instrumental Post Rock Playlist Vol.1 is almost 2.5 hours of just what it says on the tin. Long enough to get some work done without being tempted to faff around with what music is playing
watched
- Tuesday, we watched as the Timbers went down to San Jose 1-0 and wash out of the US Open Cut
- Around mid-week, we finished our rewatch of The Wire. It still hits
- Saturday, we watched as the Timbers lost to Orlando, 1-0, in regular season play
cooked
- grilled sausages on Monday
- chicken marsala on Tuesday
- grilled steak tacos on Friday
looking forward to
The long weekend
