Weeknote for 20240908-20240914

meta

I spent a big chunk of this week on-site in Seattle for work, so it was a bit of an outlier week. I also stayed in a neighborhood I hadn’t visited before — Queen Anne — and it wasn’t quite as convenient as places I’ve stayed before (mostly Belltown). I did get to meet my New Zealand-based coworker, which was cool, and the train rides up and back were uneventful. Solid trip.

did

  • On Sunday, took the train up to Seattle for work
  • Continued to beat my head against the Next.js Pages router. I think, after a fair amount of discussion with folks while I was on-site, I have a path forward
  • Train home on Friday

  • Brutalist Web Design:

A website’s materials aren’t HTML tags, CSS, or JavaScript code. Rather, they are its content and the context in which it’s consumed.

cooked ate

Since I was in Seattle most of this week, instead of what I cooked, here’s what I ate:

I had a lovely interaction with the cafe car attendant on the way up to Seattle.

looking forward to

Next week, I’m heading back up North for the annual lab retreat, which is being held in a retreat lodge near the North Cascades — an area of Washington I’ve never been to before.
